ABOUT THE ARTIST
I was born in South Australia, and live at “Summerhill” Mount Barker, in the Adelaide Hills. One of the daughters of a pioneering family in the Port Elliot district, my roots and much of my inspiration remain on the South Coast.
As an accomplished horsewoman and carriage driver, and a lover of nature and all its animals, I draw much from these interests in nurturing my passion for art.
In my earlier years I was an occasional artist in pencil, watercolour and oils, but have lately turned to watercolours as a wonderful medium to master, with the life, times and works of Hans Heysen being a particular inspiration.
I have also admired the techniques and work of a number of other artists, including South Australians Ivor Hele and Robert Hannaford, and the delightful watercolour paintings of horses and other domestic animals by Dunedin born Harold Septimus Power.
Largely self taught, I am currently enjoying the challenges of watercolour and its many moods.
